Today, I’m going up to Houghton Lake to be the featured speaker at the Battle of the Books Kick-off. I LOVE BOTB!! I want every community to do it–it’s about kids and adults getting together and discussing books and having fun. What could be better. This little post explains what my plan is to get motivated (and over my fear) of riding my bike to Chicago. I am going to ask all the school kids I see this spring to send me a letter telling me why they think I can do this and maybe sharing a time they overcame their own fears. Here’s my address just in case you want to send me a letter:

1080 Knapp Street, NE
Grand Rapids, MI 49505

Whenever I get scared, I call on my friends. This photo shows my friends Tamara, Beth and Trish coming to help me help to cater a big party! We all need a little help from our friends. I’m about to ask 2,000 school kids to lend a hand and write to me. You can, too!
